It's about time

When I turned 18 and graduated from Young Women's to Relief Society at church, I received a calling in the Enrichment Committee. Then off to BYU I went. I then got the calling of....that's right, Enrichment Committee member! Several moves, a mission, more college and guess what? I have pretty much been either in charge of enrichment night as a member, leader or in the RS presidency over enrichment or involved in ward activities either as a memeber or leader. Oh, I've had other callings; ward missionary, VT supervisor; gospel doctrine teacher....but all usually on top of my enrichment/activity calling.

Don't get me wrong, I love activities (heck, I even CHOOSE to plan activites and events at BYU) and I suppose I must be good at it or they wouldn't keep putting me in those callings. But seriously. Since I was 18. That's almost nine years (ok, minus a year and a half when I was on my mission).

So this last week I got a new calling, not related to enrichment or activities........ready for it?.......

Relief Society Music Specialist (at least I think that's what they call it).

I haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do with it, but I'm excited to try something new and hopefully do a good job at it. We'll see how it goes! I am open to any tips or suggestions.

I think that you and I share the same calling! Are you the choristor? If that's the case, I had the best idea. For the practice hymns, I sent around a sign up sheet finding out everyone's favorite hymns and we do those for the practice. I've aseked people to talk about why they like the hymn and I've also done other versions of those hymns. Like next week, we're doing the women's version of Love At Home and the week after that when we talk about my favorite hymn, I'm playing a really cool recording and handing out the lyrics. Isn't it so fun to have a calling like that?

Um I know why you've been involved with enrichment for 9ish years... not only are you full of spunk and life and general fun (aka the best type of person to hang out with), you've got mad "making skills." Oh yes, I remember when you would casually say (while working at the MTC), do you like my new skirt? I made it. Goodness, you're good at such things! You're an untapped resource... oh wait, the have been tapping you as a resource for 9 years! Smart them!

It's always good to know who I can go to for ideas with MY new calling...

ps Hooray for music! You'll, again, be fantastic.
